ABOUT
As someone who spent many years at the mercy of my own coping mechanisms, hiding parts of myself that were early on rejected, I have a deep understanding of the time and space it needs for the various parts of ourselves to come back into being. The space I hope to create in session is one of safety, collaboration and empowerment.
I am a half-Chinese, half-white, cis-gendered female with a first hand understanding of the impact of early childhood trauma and its link to mental health and substance use. My areas of passion include working with emotional regulation, early patterns of childhood, attachment, substance use, and the inner child. I use a depth oriented approach augmented with DBT skill building.
For those interested in this particular type of therapy, I also offer a unique method of self exploration that involves building metaphors and understanding through the stories, characters and media that resonate strongly with you. Whether it be literature, film, comics, video games or television, these modern forms of mythology can be a powerful way to explore the themes and challenges in your day to day life.
